Flowerbeds and hanging baskets
Vic built two raised flower beds at Castle Drive and we created 2 flat beds and planted them all up.
Another raised flowerbed will be built in Castle Drive as soon as possible.
John and Lil planted the raised bed at their house with summer plants and now with spring flowering plants.
Floral Halls planted the bed at Banavie Station with the 'Year of the Disabled Persons' design and we planted it up in November with spring flowering pansies.
The troughs on the lampposts and the planter at the Co-op were planted, and John, Lil and Ann planted over 100 hanging baskets. John continues to maintain them for us during the summer.
We also put hanging baskets at Blarmhor Road and Camaghael Road. We bought and planted up 8 flower tubs at Castle Drive and we bought and planted 3 tubs at Torlundy Road and the residents there said that they would water and maintain them.
We planted some shrubs at Telford Road but they are not doing very well, and the rotten fence was removed from the other area at Telford Road. We planted more shrubs at this area too.
Vic has made a concrete planter for us and we sited this at the Shopping Centre. We made a flowerbed just past Sheraton Homes but this had to be a wooden one as there are 'services' there.
Assessors from Beautiful Scotland in Bloom assessed the village in June and July and we were finalists in our category last year but were not selected this time.
