Greenhouse and Greenfingers
Lochaber Action on Disability had already been negotiating to take over the redundant green house at Lochaber Resource Centre. Mr Ricky MacNab and Mr Mike MacGruer of Highland Council helped finding the site at the Claggan Park.
With the help of volunteers and enormous support from local businesses we dismantled the frame and reconstructed the green house in Claggan.
The volunteers from the Angus Centre and the Community mental Health Team and the children of the Claggan Project are all working in partnership in this complex. They maintained all our summer bedding plants until we were ready to plant them out. They order spring flowering pansies for us and they maintained them until we were ready to plant them in the raised beds.
We stored our geraniums and begonia corms in the greenhouse over the winter and we have taken cuttings from the geraniums for our beds this year.
We buy plug plants for summer bedding, and we plant them. Greenfingers Project maintain them for us until they are ready to plant out. We agreed to give them a donation for the work that they do for us.
L.A.D. with financial assistance from Caol in Bloom, a local councillor and Angus Centre have bought a polytunnel and Camken has kindly prepared the ground for it at the back of the cold frame. We now have agreed code of practice for all partners, who use these facilities.
